There’s winning and there’s dominating.
The 17th-ranked Central Michigan University wrestling team did both over the weekend as it nailed down two Mid-American Conference victories by pounding Old Dominion 28-9 on Friday before crushing visiting Northern Illinois 33-6 Sunday at McGuirk Arena.
In all the Chippewas (5-2, 3-2) won 15 of the 20 bouts they competed in and scored 30 takedowns to their opponents’ eight while securing two pins, two technical falls and three major decisions. In short it was an impressive weekend for Tom Borrelli and company as they took the fight to the fight.
“I was happy with the way we wrestled,” said Borrelli following Sunday’s victory over the Huskies.
