For the second time through three weeks this season, Case Western Reserve University sophomore pitcher Matt Levine was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, after leading the Spartans to a 9-0 win over Oglethorpe University on Sunday.
Levine needed just 74 pitches (52 strikes) to navigate through seven scoreless innings against the Stormy Petrels, facing the minimum through his first six innings on the mound. He allowed just four hits in the game, while failing to walk a batter, and struck out three in the contest.
Levine improved to 1-0 on the season, while lowering his earned run average to 1.
