The Case Western Reserve University baseball team struck first in their four-game series at Emory University this weekend, winning 4-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday.
The win was the sixth-straight for the Spartans, who raised their record to 18-8 overall and to 5-2 in the University Athletic Association. Emory dropped to 15-12 overall with a 4-1 league mark.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Matt Levine picked up the win to improve to 4-2 on the campaign. He held the Eagles to one run on just four hits and a walk over five and a third innings in the contest, while striking out one batter in a 74-pitch effort.
