The Case Western Reserve University baseball team suffered a 2-0 loss to Western New England University on Friday afternoon at the Spartan Southern Classic in Lexington, South Carolina.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 6-6 overall on the season, while Western New England improved to 2-1 with the victory.
The setback game despite another strong effort on the mound from sophomore starting pitcher Matt Levine, who yielded just one earned run and two total on four hits and six walks, while striking out a batter during his eight inning effort.
The Spartans also had their opportunities in the game at the plate, outhitting the Golden Bears 9-4 on Friday while drawing a pair of walks and getting hit by six pitches, but struggled to come up with the big hit, leaving 12 men on base and hitting into three inning-ending double plays.
