On the second day of its Spring Break trip, the Case Western Reserve University baseball team lost 10-9 to Roanoke College on Monday afternoon at Salem Memorial Ballpark in Salem, Virginia.
The Spartans fall to 3-3 on the season while the Maroons improve to 5-4.
The first two batters of the game, senior outfielder Cole Jarrett and first-year outfielder Logan Andreyko, reached base for CWRU and moved into scoring position on a double steal. Sophomore third baseman Zack Carinci then opened the scoring with a rare two-run sacrifice fly to give the Spartans the early 2-0 edge.
