Case Western Reserve University senior guard and team co-captain Javier Alvarez rang in his 'Senior Day' with a career-high 25 points, but it was not enough for the Spartans, who suffered a 79-69 defeat to Carnegie Mellon University at Horsburgh Gymnasium in the team's final game of the 2016-17 season on Saturday.
Alvarez's 25 points in the final game of his career surpassed his previous career-high of 24, also registered against Carnegie Mellon last season. He made eight-of-21 shots from the floor, including four-of-eight from behind the three point line, and added three steals, four rebounds and two assists.
