The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams turned in strong performances at the SPIRE Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday.
With nine top-five finishes at the meet, the Spartan women placed second out of 12 teams in action with 90 points. The men, who tallied 12 top-five finishes, placed third out of 13 teams at the meet with 71 points.
The Spartan women totaled three first place finishes on the day, with junior Olivia Newman winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.46, sophomore Samantha Kelts placing first in the triple jump with a distance of 10.
