Case Western Reserve University sophomore first baseman Jonathan Simon was named the University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week, after helping lead the team to a pair of victories against Hiram College to open the 2021 campaign on Saturday.
Simon went five-for-10 (.500) at the plate with three runs scored, two runs batted in, and two doubles. In the opening game of the doubleheader, a 9-2 CWRU win, the left-handed hitter went three-for-five with three runs scored, an RBI and two doubles. Hitting out of the five-spot in the lineup for the second-straight game, Simon went two-for-five with an RBI in the late affair of the doubleheader, a 6-5 Spartan victory.
