Junior sprinter Nathaniel Wahner of the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team broke two school records en route to finals on the first day of the 2015 Men's and Women's University Athletic Association Track and Field Championships hosted by New York University.
On Sunday, Wahner will compete in the finals of the 400-meter dash after concluding the prelims in sixth place with a career-best time of 50.30. Wahner followed up that performance with a school-record breaking time of 22.48 in the 200-meter dash for fourth place to advance to the finals.
At the conclusion of competition on day one, the Spartan women are currently in third place with 32 points, while the men scored 12 points and sit in seventh place after five scored events.
