Case Western Reserve University graduate student sprinter Juan Perez was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's track for his performance last weekend.
Perez broke his own school record in the 55-meter dash on Saturday afternoon at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. In the prelims, Perez crossed the line in 6.53 seconds, the fastest time in any of the heats. He set the previous record last season with a time of 6.54 seconds. In the finals, Perez finished third with a time of 6.
