The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team played a tough first half of basketball in an exhibition against Division I Cleveland State University on Saturday afternoon, but the Vikings would ultimately pull away from the Spartans in the second half in a 100-56 win at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Spartans held their own against the Vikings, who won the Horizon League and qualified for the NCAA Tournament during the 2020-21 campaign, during the opening 20 minutes of play. A three-pointer by senior forward Ryan Newton followed by a steal and a layup by graduate student guard Mitch Prendergrast put the Spartans ahead 10-7 with 15:31 remaining.
