Case Western Reserve University freshman pitcher Matt Levine pitched the first complete-game shutout of his career on Sunday morning, lifting the 13th-ranked Spartans to a 4-0 win over Emory University at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio.
The win clinched a series victory for the Spartans, who improved to 16-3 overall and sit in first place in the University Athletic Association with a 3-1 conference record. Emory dropped to 10-13 with the loss, including a 1-3 mark in the league.
Levine surrendered just six hits and a walk in the game, while striking out four batters.
