Graduate student Cassandra Laios of the Case Western Reserve University track and field team set a new school record in the women's hammer throw as the men and women combined to win five events at the 2019 W&L Carnival, hosted by Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia on Friday and Saturday.
Laios set a new school record mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.62 meters to claim the title in the event. That mark bests her previous school record of 51.30 meters which was set in 2017. Freshman Kayla Reece also added a third-place finish in the event with a mark of 40.
