Case Western Reserve University sophomore third baseman Jacob Kucia and senior pitcher Jake Shields were named the University Athletic Association Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Kucia led all Spartan hitters with a .571 batting average over two games last week, picking up four hits in seven at bats, scoring two runs, collecting a double, and driving in a run. He was also hit by a pair of pitches, and played flawless defense at third base over the two games. During Tuesday's 10-5 loss to fifth-ranked Wooster, Kucia went two-for-three with a run scored.
