The Case Western Reserve University football team was picked to finish fifth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in a poll of the league's coaches and sports information directors, along with local media, conducted at the PAC Football Media Day on Wednesday afternoon at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Following more than a year away from intercollegiate competition, the Spartans returned to the field in 2021 with a talented, but inexperienced group of players. The result was a 6-4 campaign, the team's sixth straight season with a winning record but its lowest win total since 2014. Heading into 2022 with 19 starters returning, including eight All-PAC selections, CWRU is hoping to build upon a solid second half of the season when the team won four of its final five games, including a 42-38 thrilling Homecoming win over Geneva.
