The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team opened its annual Throwback Weekend on Friday night with a loss, as the University of Chicago claimed an 81-72 win over the Spartans at historic Adelbert Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio, force a split of the season series.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 9-10 overall and to 2-6 in the University Athletic Association, while Chicago remained tied for the UAA lead with a 6-2 conference ledger and improved to 13-6 overall.
The Spartans, who were wearing their Case Institute of Technology throwback uniforms on Friday, were led by sophomore guard Ignas Masiulionis, who scored 18 points off the bench on a seven-of-15 shooting performance, including three-of-eight from behind the three-point line.
