The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team opened its 2015-16 campaign with a win on Friday night, defeating the Goucher College Gophers 79-58 during the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Tournament, presented by the Intercontinental Hotel and Conference Center, at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio. With the win, CWRU advanced to the championship game of the tournament, where they will take on Brooklyn College. Brooklyn defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology 91-68 earlier in the day to reach the tournament's title game. Goucher will face RIT in the consolation game on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Sophomore forward David Black led a well-rounded scoring effort from the Spartans with 13 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Jimmy Holman added 12 points.
