The Case Western Reserve University baseball team dropped a 9-0 contest to Emory University in the opening game of a four-game series between the University Athletic Association rivals at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland on Thursday afternoon.
CWRU fell to 10-9 overall and 2-3 in the UAA following the loss, while Emory improved to 14-9 with a 3-1 UAA record.
Emory opened the scoring with a three-run third inning and added two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and one in the ninth. Meanwhile, the Spartans were held to six hits during the day, all singles.
