The Case Western Reserve University baseball team split a doubleheader against New York University on Saturday, winning the first game 2-1 behind a strong outing from senior starting pitcher Jake Shields, before seeing their eight-game winning streak come to a close with a 13-9 loss to the Violets in the late game, at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.
With the split, the Spartans moved to 14-12 on the season, and remained in second place in the University Athletic Association with an 8-3 conference ledger. NYU ended the day with a 12-6 overall record, including a 1-2 mark in UAA play.
