Case Western Reserve University junior third baseman Zack Carinci was named the University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week after leading the Spartans to four wins in five games last week, including a four-game sweep at New York University.
Carinci hit .450 (9-20) with two doubles, four runs batted in, eight runs scored, and three stolen bases on six attempts. He also walked six times and struck out just once, finishing the week with a .577 on base percentage and a .550 slugging percentage. Highlights from his week included collecting six hits over two games of the Spartans' Sunday doubleheader sweep of the Violets, going three-for-five with a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base in an 11-6 win in game one, and three-for-six with a run, three RBIs, and a double in the second game.
