Case Western Reserve University sophomore Jacob Burke was named the punter on the D3football.com Team of the Week, following his standout performance during the 23rd-ranked Spartans' 35-28 win over the Washington and Jefferson College Presidents.
Despite playing through windy conditions and driving rain for much of the game, Burke put forth a strong performance on Saturday, punting seven times for an average of 43.6 yards. He pinned the Presidents' inside their own 20-yard line once and had three touchbacks, including one in the fourth quarter on a career-long 71-yard punt. Burke also had a key run in the game, turning a dropped snap on a punt attempt in the third quarter into a 22 yard gain and a first down, allowing the Spartans to continue a drive that would produce a go-ahead touchdown.
