The Case Western Reserve University baseball team split a doubleheader with 15th-ranked Denison University on Sunday at Big Red Field in Granville, Ohio, winning the first game 6-5 but losing the second game 8-1.
The Spartans, who won two games in the three-game series with the Big Red, are now 6-9 on the season. Denison has an 8-3 record.

Denison started the scoring with a three-run second inning. Case Western Reserve responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. A groundout from first-year catcher Jay Smith scored junior catcher Jack Anderson.
