The Case Western Reserve University baseball team suffered a setback in their opening game of the 2019 campaign, falling 6-5 to Spalding University in the opening game of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-1 on the year, while Spalding improved to 3-1 on the campaign with the win. Sophomore designated hitter Tre Armstrong went two-for-five in the game with a double and the first home run of his career. Sophomore first baseman Benjamin Stawicki added a two-for-five day at the plate as well, including a double.
