The eighth-ranked Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team notched its first-ever home postseason victory, defeating Arcadia University 82-76 in front of a raucous crowd at Horsburgh Gymnasium on Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship.
The Spartans improved to 22-3 overall this season and to 3-1 all-time in NCAA tournament play. CWRU will now turn its attention to its second-round opponent tomorrow, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, which best Wabash College 90-83 in the early game on Friday.
Senior forward Cole Frilling notched his ninth double-double of the season and led all Spartans in the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds, shooting five-of-nine overall and two-of-three from behind the three-point arc.
