CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers and their next owner won’t necessarily need a shiny new domed home like Minnesota’s U.S. Bank Stadium that will host Super Bowl LII to make a run at bringing the NFL’s championship game to Charlotte.
It might help.
But on many levels it would be hard for the new owner to justify asking the city and taxpayers to help build a new stadium -- at least within the first five years to 10 years of purchasing the team -- when there is a facility in place that could hold a Super Bowl.
