Unless you are a Carolina Panthers fan living under a rock, you should have already heard of the legend of Rakim Cox.
Cox is the team's new 6'4", 260 pound defensive end who was an undrafted free agent a year ago, bounced around the league, but tried out for the team and made the cut after an impressive showing in the Panthers' May rookie minicamp.
His preseason buzz was nonexistent until Friday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Because he wears the all-too-familiar number 77, the initial tweets from Panthers fans would joke that it was instead Byron Bell playing defense:
But it was no laughing matter when Cox made a name for himself he generated multiple pressures, a quarterback hit, 2 tackles, and a sack in only one series.
