VIDEO: Cam Newton Gave Game Ball To Child Who Recently Lost His Father

Sunday saw a potential NFC Championship preview when the Green Bay Packers traveled to Carolina for a showdown with the Panthers. Carolina would hold on for the win to stay undefeated, but that wasn’t the best part of the day for one Panthers fan.

In the second quarter, Cam Newton scored on a short touchdown run. After retrieving the ball (thrown to the sideline by Green Bay’s Julius Peppers), Newton handed the ball to one young fan in the stands, something the popular quarterback has done multiple times before.

Only this time, the child who got the gift had a backstory that makes the moment even that much more special, as told by WSET-TV, the ABC affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia:
