CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday agreed to terms to re-sign free-agent running back Fozzy Whittaker, a league source told ESPN.com.
Terms: Two years, $2.5 million.
Grade B-minus: This isn't one that will draw big headlines, but the Panthers trust Whittaker, 28, as a third-down option and kick returner. He's decent as a runner and solid as a receiver out of the backfield. He had 25 catches for 226 yards this past season to go with 265 yards rushing.
What it means: It doesn't mean the Panthers won't consider taking a running back with the eighth pick of the draft.
