First of all, Dickson wouldn’t have even been running that particular route had Greg Olsen not gotten hurt on the previous play. But Dickson stepped in seamlessly. He was split out to the left against Falcons cornerback Robert Alford and broke right toward the middle of the end zone, fighting through pass interference.
Then came the amazing throw – a pinpoint laser from quarterback Cam Newton that zipped past the earhole of defensive lineman Ra'Shede Hageman and went where only Dickson could get it. Dickson went low, stuck out his hands and made a picture-perfect catch at full stretch.
