CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After more than 11 seasons, 140 games, a team-record 888 tackles and three reconstructive ACL surgeries on his right knee, Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis finally scored his first NFL touchdown.
It was long overdue.
But Davis, 33, didn’t get to celebrate it.
"I didn’t think it was going to count," Davis said of his 46-yard, first-quarter fumble return for a touchdown in Sunday’s 30-20 victory against Arizona.
Neither did the Cardinals, particularly quarterback Carson Palmer, who thought it was an incomplete pass instead of a fumble.
