After a day where Colin Jones was granted his release, the Panthers found a way to end the day on a good note.
Following a self destruction of the run defense and defensive line in general, the Panthers added a defensive end who worked as a core rotational piece on a stacked Minnesota Vikings defensive line. Weatherly has six sacks over the last two seasons, and it appears he should get the opportunity to carve out a larger role in Carolina.
With key starters such as Bruce Irvin, Mario Addison, and Gerald McCoy all gauging their value on the open market, the team needs to add pieces without breaking the bank as they continue on this “rebuild but not total rebuild” path into 2020.
