CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott will interview for the head-coaching position with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, according to a league source.
Carolina coach Ron Rivera said on Monday he would allow McDermott and offensive coordinator Mike Shula to interview during the bye week for head-coaching jobs before the team’s Jan. 17 playoff game.
The Browns fired head coach Mike Pettine and general manager Ray Farmer immediately after a 3-13 season. They hired Paul DePodesta, the New York Mets' vice president of player development and scouting, to be their chief strategy officer.
