NEW ORLEANS -- The Saints made NFL history to take an improbable 16-13 halftime lead over the unbeaten Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
The Saints (4-7) returned the first blocked extra point for a two-point conversion in NFL history shortly before halftime to preserve their lead. Two-point returns were allowed this year for the first time after the extra point was moved back to the 15-yard line.
The kick was blocked by veteran defensive lineman Kevin Williams and returned by rookie linebacker Stephone Anthony, who also forced a fumble and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
