After making about 10 live throws during Thursday’s practice against the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton spent the remainder of the two-hour session watching from the sideline and doing conditioning work.
It remains to be seen whether it was the last action Newton will get this week in Tennessee.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera was noncommittal on Newton’s status for Saturday’s exhibition against the Titans. But given the team’s cautious approach with Newton since his setback with his surgically repaired shoulder in training camp, it seems unlikely he’ll suit up Saturday.
Rivera said he’ll meet with the medical staff Friday to discuss Newton’s status.
