CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- About 30 minutes remained in practice on Wednesday and the Carolina Panthers were in a two-minute drill. There was some confusion as third-string quarterback Joe Webb barked out signals on the offensive side and defensive players scrambled to get into position.
Webb spiked the ball.
Unfortunately, it was fourth down, which in a game would have been a devastating mistake.
Coach Ron Rivera immediately huddled the entire team in the middle of the field to explain what happened and what was coming next in terms of down-and-distance and other details.
