REPORT: Cam Newton makes first throws since surgery

Following offseason shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, Cam Newton returned to throwing the football as previously scheduled. The Panthers quarterback played the final four games of the regular season last year with the injury before it was revealed during the offseason.

Original thoughts were rest and time would allow Newton’s shoulder to heal on its’ own but unfortunately, surgery was required. The procedure sidelined Newton for team periods during minicamp and OTAs but the franchise quarterback remains on schedule for a full recovery.

According to Bill Voth from the team website, Newton threw 45 passes to head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion.
