OAKLAND – The Carolina Panthers lost 35-32 to the Oakland Raiders after rallying from a 17-point halftime deficit. Sebastian Janikowski connected on a 23-yard game-winning field goal with 1:47 left to send the Panthers to their fifth loss by three points or less this season.
If the first half could be condensed into one play, it was a Cam Newton interception with 47 seconds remaining before halftime. Intending to throw an outlet pass to running back Fozzy Whittaker to avoid the Raiders’ pass rush, Newton’s lob was intercepted by defensive end Khalil Mack, who returned the ball six yards for a touchdown, making the score 24-7.
