EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Carolina Panthers scored 28 unanswered points then endured 28 unanswered points before pulling out a 38-35 victory over the New York Giants.
Graham Gano's 43-yard field goal as time expired won it.
Quarterback Cam Newton tossed five touchdown passes for the third time in five games as the Panthers became the fourth team in NFL history to start the season 14-0.
The Panthers led 35-7 late in the third quarter before the Giants rallied.
The teams traded touchdowns midway through the first quarter, with a 47-yard run by Newton setting up a 3-yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn, Jr.
