CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers fell 17-14 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night, dropping their record to 1-4.
Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo sent a 38-yard field goal through the uprights as time expired to earn the victory. That score capped an 11 play, 66-yard game-winning drive.
Quarterback Derek Anderson, starting for the injured Cam Newton, completed 18-of-28, throwing no touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Both teams had the chance to take the lead in the final nine minutes, but an Anderson interception in the end zone and a missed field goal on Tampa Bay's ensuing drive held the score at 14-14.
