The Panthers are back to three quarterbacks on the roster, as they have claimed QB Brad Kaaya off waivers from the Detroit Lions, according to a tweet from Albert Breer.
Kaaya was drafted in the sixth round (No. 215 overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, who released him yesterday. He played college football at Miami.
This is an interesting decision by the Panthers, who apparently felt that Garrett Gilbert wasn’t the right quarterback to develop in the system. The Panthers will have to make a corresponding move to make room for Kaaya as they are at the roster limit, so stay tuned for more information on who is released to make room for Kaaya.
