Panthers waive safety Tre Boston

After signing free agent safety Mike Adams during the offseason, the Carolina Panthers have now waived last season’s starter, Tre Boston. Last year Boston started a career high 10 games for the Panthers in large part due to Roman Harper’s contract being voided prior a return to New Orleans following the 2015 season.

Boston, a University of North Carolina product was a former fourth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft spending his entire career to this point in Carolina. In 42 games he made 93 tackles with three interceptions, two coming last season.

Free safety and strong safety in the Panthers defense has long been interchangeable with players at times filling both roles during a game.
