Last week, the title of this article was ‘The defense can capitalize on a reeling Bucs offense.’ So much for that. The Carolina Panthers did not do that, and instead gave up 46 points and 544 total yards (on 7.1 yards per play) en route to a 23 point home loss.
Up next is an offense that is as mediocre as mediocre can be. The Detroit Lions rank 16th in passing DVOA, 16th in rushing DVOA, and 14th in total offensive DVOA. They do nothing well, and they do nothing poorly. That’s a welcome sight after the Panthers defense was forced to play three offenses in the top eight of DVOA in the last four weeks.
