Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers trimmed their roster down to 77 players Friday afternoon, which included second-year cornerback Zack Sanchez.
The second-year corner out of Oklahoma headlines a group of six players that were placed on injured reserve, including cornerback Teddy Williams (shoulder), offensive tackle Dan France (concussion), offensive guard David Yankey (back), wide receiver Fred Ross (ankle) and tight end Scott Simonson (back).
Sanchez was diagnosed with a groin injury after going down in the fourth quarter Thursday in the team’s preseason finale loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Carolina also waived former East Carolina tight end Bryce Williams on Friday, along with cornerback Devonte Johnson, defensive tackles Gabriel Mass and Connor Wujciak, defensive ends Arthur Miley and Efe Obada, and center Brian Folkerts.
