Panthers sign wide receiver Brenton Bersin … again

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Brenton Bersin keeps coming back. The former undrafted rookie free agent has been waived five times in his career, never playing for anyone other than his hometown Panthers over six years.

After missing two preseason games, Bersin was placed on injured reserve during the final roster cutdown, received a settlement and was cut in September. At the time many believed it was the last Carolina would see of the Charlotte native in a Panthers uniform but a surprise trade of No. 1 wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin left an opening.

Expected to infuse speed within the offense, replacing Benjamin with Bersin doesn’t correct the problem.
