Panthers sign safety Jarius Byrd to shore up depleted secondary

In an effort to replenish the secondary after Kurt Coleman suffered an MCL sprain this past weekend, the Carolina Panthers have signed former Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd. The terms of the deal are not known at the time, but it is likely a one-year deal aimed at short term help.

Byrd, a former three-time Pro Bowler during his time in Buffalo, was a marquee signing for the Saints back in 2014, where he signed a six-year, $54 million deal designed to fix the team’s inept passing defense.
