The Carolina Panthers have signed former Tampa Bay Buccanneers kicker Chandler Catanzaro. He was part of a group of kickers they worked out last week after Graham Gano struggled in Detroit. This signing, however, is not due to a crisis in the team’s confidence of Gano.
Instead, this follows Gano appearing on the injury report this week with a knee injury. Catanzaro, who was released from the Bucs this year following his accuracy struggles, is being described as “an insurance policy” while the Panthers evaluate Gano’s health. Catanzaro is a career 83% field goal kicker but has missed four extra points this season.
