Charlotte, N.C. — Charlotte native and former North Carolina Tar Heel running back Elijah Hood is heading home.
The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday announced the signing of the free agent a day after he was cut by the Oakland Raiders.
Hood, 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, scored 147 touchdowns during a standout career at Charlotte Catholic High School before playing for the Tar Heels.
In college, Hood racked up 2,580 yards and scored 29 touchdowns in three seasons.
