Panthers select Thomas Fletcher with No. 222 pick in 2021 NFL Draft

With what will likely be the Panthers penultimate selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, the team elected to use their sixth round compensatory selection on Thomas Fletcher, a long snapper from Alabama.

It appears we can split the Panthers draft into two themes so far: athletic freaks early and Senior Bowl invitees late. Fletcher has been the Tide’s long snapper since arriving on campus, and he even earned the Patrick Manelly Award for the nation’s top long snapper (yes, a real award) in 2020. Though a little undersized at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, he has some decent speed that has helped him in punt coverage.
