In an offseason of suprising front office moves, the Panthers broke the mold once again announcing the release of QBs Joe Webb and Garrett Gilbert. After a paltry preseason performance, rumblings had become louder that Carolina would make a change in the quarterback room but many assumed it would be the demotion or outright release of veteran Derek Anderson who failed to do anything of note at all in the absence of Cam Newton who was recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Shockingly the Panthers have cleared everyone not named Newton and Anderson from the roster, seeming content to roll with the duo into week one where Newton’s health is not a guarantee and the number 2 has shown signs of struggling stretching back to last year.
