Charlotte, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers released veteran punter Mike Scifres and safety Trenton Robinson ahead of Tuesday’s 75-man roster deadline, according to a team press release.
Scifres – who signed a one-year deal with the Panthers on June 7 – was cut after acquiring veteran punter Andy Lee in a trade with Cleveland on Monday. Robinson, also acquired via free agency this offseason, underwent surgery on his pec last week.
Carolina also placed wide receiver LaRon Bryd and defensive end Rakim Cox on injured reserve; Bryd has been in concussion protocol and Cox is nursing a back injury.
